The Intuits wanted a territory that allowed them to be part of a government. An officer of the Interim commissioner was established to prepare for the creation of Nunavut. It helped to set up an operational government in Nunavut on April 1st 1999.

The Intuits had to fight to keep Nunavut but also wanted somethings from the government. In 1976 The ITK proposes the creation of Nunavut. Who in the world is the ITK? The ITK is Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami. In the 1970’s Inuit leaders had long negations with the Canadian government. In the 1980’s Tunngavak Federation of Nunavut all so known as TFN was created to peruse negations on behalf of the Intuits. In 1992 the TFN held a plebiscite. Inuit’s fought for the land that was a big part of their history. History is boring but some people need to know their history.

Agreements And Acts For Nunavut

Before Nunavut became a territory there were Agreements and Acts. In 1992 the Nunavut political Acord was passed. July 9 1993 Nunavut Land Clams Agreement was passed. On July 9 1993 Nunavut Act was also passed. So may Agreements and Acts that were passed. 1998 Nunavut Act is finalized and received the Royal Assessment. Who knew that there was a Royal Assessment? Also in 1992 the Nunavut political Acord was passed.
